As part of Advanced Studies Institute, 30 students from the U.S. and the Americas will acquire examples of data that can be used in site characterization for earthquake hazard analysis. Data will be collected at a few, geologically diverse sites within the city of Santo Domingo. Broadband data collected with IRIS portable instruments will be analyzed by the students using Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) and Spatially Averaged Coherency (SPAC) methods. The students will analyze short period data collected with other instruments using Multi-channel Spectral Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) and Refraction Microtremor (ReMi) methods.
